Ciprofloxacin and low dose aspirin rifaximin may be combined before a procedure, in selected patients with acute kidney failure; rifaximin and rifampin, doxazosin, doxycycline, ceftriaxone, other agents may be started in patients with active infection; rifampin may be given concomitantly with other agents for patients severe or stable infection, even if they are not suspected of having disseminated hepatitis B virus infection. Rifampin should not be given to any patient, even after a diagnosis of hepatitis B, unless in combination with other immunosuppressive agents prescribed to treat infection (2). Rifampin-containing creams may also be administered by subcutaneous injection to provide a rapid and sustained release of rifampicin. In selected patients with chronic hepatitis B and in persons for whom rifampin treatment is contraindicated, could be administered subcutaneously once daily for 30 days. After that time, rifampin can be given once daily as an intramuscular injection in select high- and stable-risk patients (see Section V.D). Injectable Fosfomycin is also approved for parenteral use in patients with chronic or active infection who require parenteral (intravenous, or via a central venous catheter) treatment. Use of this drug may increase local resistance to the antigens and, thus, may affect treatment outcome.
